Designed to provide additional career training pathways in any field of interest that align with Rio Salado College's current education and training programs. Adult Education students are able to pursue stackable credentials toward a career in a high demand industry while at the same time earning the required credits in a currently offered degree program at Rio Salado College.

Cybersecurity Fundamentals

Technology and cybersecurity careers are growing faster than any other industry in Arizona.* Learn the necessary skills required to secure, protect and identify vulnerabilities in a network, including various operating systems and network devices. 

The Cybersecurity program also focuses on the skills needed for internationally recognized IT certifications and high demand skills in business, industry, and government.

  • Apply credits to an Associate in Applied Science in Cybersecurity from Rio Salado College 

Important Class Information: 

  • This program is broken up into two 12 credit sections. First 12 credits are available while enrolled in Rio Adult Education classes. 
  • Second 12 credits require your HSE Diploma or financial aid. Students can expect to spend 4 to 6 hours per week in and out-of-class assignments and class instruction

Front or Back End Software Development

Front End Software Developers build the pieces of applications and websites that users see and interact with. This involves creating components that look good and provide functionality when a user interacts with them. It also involves interacting with Back End applications and displaying data in an aesthetically pleasing manner.

Back End Software Developers are in charge of building applications that do the behind-the-scenes work. This typically involves receiving requests from a Front End application, processing the request, reading and writing to a database, and responding back to requests from other applications.

Career Outlook:

  • Front or Back End Software Developers earn an average of $66,900. (O*Net)

Certification Earned:

  • MySQL Certification upon passing the exam

Career Pathway Option:

  • 18 week classes

  • This program is offered in partnership with Gateway Community College and classes are offered on Gateway’s campus.
  • Students can expect to spend 12 to 14 hours per week in and out-of-class assignments and class instruction
